Hello

Kirsty Chambers is a member of DONA International as a postpartum doula. Originally from Scotland, she moved to Canada in 2009 and has made Cochrane, Alberta her home to raise 3 wonderful children with her husband Kris.

“I have a desire for meaningful work after being a stay at home mom to my three children for 10 years. I see being a doula as a way to contribute to another families happiness and health. I am able to take my own life experience and education and apply it in an empowering way.”

"As a postpartum doula, I bring compassionate and knowledgeable support to families during the transitional postpartum period. With a deep sense of empathy and understanding, I offer nonjudgmental guidance and encouragement as parents navigate the joys and challenges of early parenthood. My patient and flexible approach allows me to tailor my support to each family's unique needs, providing education and resources in breastfeeding, newborn care, and emotional wellness. I prioritize respectful and open communication, building trust and rapport with families as we work together to empower them with the knowledge and confidence they need to thrive. Reliable and respectful of boundaries, I am committed to being a trusted member of their village on the journey to parenthood."

My Story

Born and raised just north of Glasgow Scotland, Kirsty grew up with her parents and younger sister.

She graduated from Aberdeen University with an MA(Hons) English Language & Literature, which led her to complete her BA Journalism & Publishing degree at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.

Kirsty moved back to Glasgow to work in public relations, before deciding to move to Canada to join her parents in 2009.

There she met her husband Kris, and worked as a technical writer in corporate Calgary. In 2014, she began her own journey into motherhood and the according to her, her favourite job to date, being a stay at home mom to her 3 children, 10, 7 and 4.

She has been an active volunteer and fundraiser in her community, sitting on her local preschool board for the last 5 years.

In 2023, she began her postpartum doula journey and became a member of DONA early 2024.

"I love sitting down to read a book and enjoy growing plants in the garden! Gardening to me is relaxing, however I’m still learning the ropes of growing tasty fruits and veggies. When I'm not with my kids, reading a good book or tending to my plants in the summer, you’ll find me with a glue gun and art supplies, crafting something fun. I am excited to blend my passions as I join your family’s journey! Let’s make this transition to parenthood smooth sailing together, with a sprinkle of creativity and a lot of care."

"I love to read and write, I am an avid gardener, however I am very much a student to growing any fruit and vegetables. I enjoy art and crafting, being creative is very important to me."

"I am excited to bring my knowledge and skillset to your new family and help make the transition as smooth as possible."
